The Local Office on Aging recently recognized Companion Home Care Inc as the "Most Engaged Volunteer Organization 2018", and presented an award to owner Michelle Belton during a ceremony at the Kazim Shrine Temple in Roanoke, VA. The award was presented by Ron D. Boyd, President and CEO of the Local Office on Aging, Inc. The ceremony kicks off Older Americans' Month for the month of May.

Companion Home Care Inc owner Michelle Belton, CDP, CAEd, has been volunteering with the Meals on Wheels program for over 25 years, delivering nutritious, pre-made meals to Roanoke area seniors.

The Meals on Wheels program is administered by the Local Office on Aging in Roanoke, VA.

Since 1972, the LOA has provided a variety of community-based services to help Roanoke area seniors and elderly people remain as independent as possible — for as long as possible.

LOA provides Meals-on-Wheels and diners clubs, volunteer opportunities and caregiver services.  LOA also helps you find assistance with personal care, emergency needs or legal problems, with essential transportation and even a fan or air conditioner.

"I like to bring my home care clients along for my weekly Meals on Wheels route. The seniors we deliver meals to love having company. We may be the only people they see all day. My clients love coming along to help, and even become friends with some of the seniors we regularly deliver to during our rounds."

In addition to directly delivering meals, Belton also refers her Roanoke, VA home care clients to different services that the Local Office on Aging can provide her clients.
